How To Use MLA In A Discussion Post

Using MLA in a discussion post works much the same as writing an essay. Although posting may feel more relaxed and less structured than a paper, you need to cite every source in text, no matter how little that source may be used, and provide your sources after your writing.

Here is an example:

All over the world, there is an elusive humanoid creature who is large in size, hairy, and incredibly powerful. In each culture, the beast has its own name: Yeti, in the Himalayas; Almas, in Mongolia; Yowie, in Australia; Chemosit, in Keyna; and the Wild Man of Borneo (“Beyond Bigfoot”). Because America has a wealth of different cultures contained within one nation, the hairy hominid goes by many different names: Skunk Ape, in the Southeast; Grassman, in Ohio; and Sasquatch, in the Pacific Northwest (“10 Names for Bigfoot”). The name Bigfoot is the catch-all term that works for all cultures. “The name “Sasquatch” comes from an adaptation of the Halkomelem tribe’s in British Columbia term, and was coined by a Canadian journalist who wrote a series of articles about Bigfoot in the 1920’s” (“Sasquatch”) When my friends and I go Squatchin’, we always just call him Bigfoot. Works Cited: “Beyond Bigfoot” American Museum of Natural History, 2020, ........www.amnh.org/exhibitions/mythic-creatures/land/beyond-bigfoot. “10 Names for Bigfoot and Bigfoot Relatives around the World.” Exemplore, 3 Aug. 2022, ..........exemplore.com/cryptids/Names-for-Bigfoot-Around-the-World. “Sasquatch” Oregonwild.org, 2019, oregonwild.org/wildlife/sasquatch. Here is a break down of the types of text and how to source your work:

In each culture, the beast has its own name: Yeti, in the Himalayas; Almas, in Mongolia; Yowie, in Australia; Chemosit, in Keyna; and the Wild Man of Borneo (“Beyond Bigfoot”). According to Southern Style Sweet Tees (2025), America has a wealth of different cultures contained within one nation, and because of this the hairy hominid goes by many different names: Skunk Ape, in the Southeast; Grassman, in Ohio; and Sasquatch, in the Pacific Northwest.
