The U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, by 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Constitution Day (also known as Citizenship Day) was established by the U.S. Congress in 2004 to commemorate the signing of the Constitution and recognize “all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.”
