Creative Commons (CC) allows authors and creators the opportunity to grant others the right to use their work and knowledge. The creator or author retains the copyright and can offer licenses stipulating how the work may be used and if it may be repurposed or edited.

There are six CC licenses, and all require attribution to give credit to the creator of the work:

  • CC BY Attribution 

  • CC BY-SA Attribution-ShareAlike 

  • CC BY-ND Attribution-NoDerivs

  • CC BY-NC Attribution-NonCommercial

  • CC BY-NC-SA Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike

  • CC BY-NC-ND Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs
