Q: Who can check out materials?
A: CPTC library grants borrowing privileges to:
Currently enrolled CPTC students
Currently enrolled CPTC dual enrollment, joint enrollment, MOWR, and ACCEL students
Currently enrolled CPTC Adult Education Program students
Currently employed CPTC staff and faculty (including part-time staff and adjunct faculty)
Retired staff and faculty of Coastal Pines Technical College, Altamaha Technical College, and Okefenokee Technical College
CPTC Board members and people designated by the President as being eligible for library privileges
CPTC Program Advisory Committee members
Students, faculty and staff of College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA), South Georgia State College (SGSC) or any unit of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) who qualify for privileges as specified in the applicable borrowing agreements.
Q: How do I get a library card?
A: Your CPTC ID card is also your library card.
Q: How many books can I check out?
A: You may check out 5 books at one time.
Q: How many videos and/or DVDs can I check out?
A: You're allowed to check out 3 videos and/or DVDs at one time.
Q: How long can I keep my book, DVD or video?
A: Books may be checked out for two weeks at a time. DVDs and videos may be checked out for three days.
Q: How do I renew materials?
A: Items may be renewed by visiting the library, calling the library, or emailing the library. Overdue items must be renewed in person.
Q: How many times can I renew my books?
A: Books may be renewed twice unless there is a hold placed on the book.
Q: I lost a library book. What should I do?
A: See a member of the library staff so you can make arrangements to pay for the lost book. Until the lost book is paid for, a hold will be placed on your student account.
Q: Do I have to pay to print items from library or lab computers?
A: CPTC students receive 150 free prints per semester. Funds are automatically deducted from your P-counter printing account each time you print. When you have used up your 150 free prints, additional funds can be added to your P-counter account at a cost of 10 cents per page. Add funds to your account at the bookstore, and then bring your receipt to the library circulation desk to have your account updated.
Q: What are the rules for using library computers?
A: Computer use in the CPTC libraries is in accordance with the CPTC Procedure - Acceptable Computer and Internet Use. CPTC library computers should not be used to access inappropriate content or perform illegal activities as described in the procedure.
Q: How much does it cost to make photocopies on the library photocopier?
Q: Can I borrow headphones to use in the library?
A: Yes — if they are available.
Q: Is there a scanner I can use in the library?
A: The Jesup Library and Golden Isles Library have scanners available for student use.
Q: Does the library have audio-visual and computer equipment that I can borrow?
A: The library checks out A/V equipment and laptop computers to faculty members. Students are not permitted to check out A/V or computer equipment.
Q: Is WiFi available at CPTC libraries?
A: Yes, free WiFi is available at all CPTC sites.
